For 15+ years, a loose affiliation of writers has met once a month to support, encourage, and sustain one another. Red Wheelbarrow Writers’ Happy Hours have provided an opportunity to share our works in progress, announce events, celebrate successes, and plan projects. In that time, we have published five anthologies, produced fourteen (!) NaNoWriMo collective novels, honored National Poetry Month through a dedicated Facebook group, and participated in several day-long or overnight write-ins. You are receiving this email because you have joined in at least one of these activities.
It’s time to assess where we are and how we want to move forward. Please make an effort to attend our next Happy Hour at The Commons on Saturday, March 7 at 4 p.m. As well as our usual readings from WIP and writerly announcements, we’ll explore how Red Wheelbarrow Writers can best serve our needs as writers in community. In advance of the meeting, please think about our various past activities: which do you want to continue to participate in? What new ventures might we try?
Location
This month’s Happy Hour is this Saturday, March 7 at 4 pm in The Commons at First Presbyterian Church. The entrance to The Commons is on the alley that runs parallel to and between N. Forest Street and N. Garden Street, and is directly behind the YWCA building.
Parking
There are a couple of dedicated parking spaces directly outside The Commons and more parking in the FPC parking lot (accessed off Laurel), as well as alley and street parking. Then walk down the alley to the Commons.
What to Bring
Please bring your own refreshments and a few dollars to contribute to the pot. If you’d like to read, bring a 5-minute exerpt to share with the group.
