Elder Voices Reading at 4 pm on November 4th in the Wilson Library Reading Room on the WWU Campus. Hear some of the contributors to the Elder Voices: Wistful, Wondering, Wise anthology read their poems and short prose pieces.
All the readers are for this event live in Whatcom County and are either alumni or former faculty/staff from WWU. Additionally, some current students will be reading their work reflecting on their experiences with elders in their own lives.
A reception will follow the reading.
This event is free to the public.
Parking
As you know, parking is often a problem at WWU, but our intrepid Rose has arranged for free parking and a shuttle for those who find it challenging to walk a bit.
- Please use Lot 9G. It will be free parking from 3pm-7pm. Lot 9G is located directly behind SMATE (Science, Mathematics and Technology Education) building. Google maps will provide directions to get there if you type in “Science, Mathematics and Technology Education” building as your destination. There is an access road towards the parking lot from W. College Way that does not have a street name, but the parking office will put up to sandwich sign boards indicating where to turn off W College Way into log 9G for the ELDER VOICES Reading. - From Lot 9G, you can either walk to the library (about an 8-minute walk) or take the shuttle.
SHUTTLE
- Rose reserved a 7-passenger van that is easy access for people to get in and out of the vehicle. We will have a continuous roundtrip loop from Lot 9G to the Library entrance on High St which is less than a 2- minute drive. We’ll offer this shuttle starting about 3:15pm and up until shortly after 4pm, and then resume it immediately after the event ends to bring people from the library to the parking lot.
