Red Wheelbarrow Writer Book Launches
On September 5 at 3 pm, Shoshana Kerewsky will be back at Village Books in Fairhaven to launch her novel The Codex of Christian Surname. Enter a world of knowledge and adventure in this alternate Middle Ages tale. Sometimes dressed as male and in other guises, 13-year-old Ḥavah traverses Iveria, explores the pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela, and learns more about her own Xudish culture and those of Cristianismo, Islama, and Budism. She discovers the world is vaster than she could have imagined.
Susan Greisen launches her first children’s book, This Boy Will Do Great Things on October 3 at 3 pm at Village Books in Fairhaven. In a small village in Botswana, Dima lives where elephants roam, hippos splash, and snakes lurk in tall trees. His name means “This boy will do great things,” and he does. With courage, curiosity, and a love for the wild, Dima follows his dream—and changes his village forever.
Fossil Dragon, the third in Sandy Lawrence’s Dragon Trilogy, was published by Sidekick Press on July 25, and will launch at Village Books in Lynden on October 24 at 4 pm. No dragons involved. The genre is CliFi: involving characters dedicated to fighting climate disruption, and the portrayal of climate disasters such as flash floods, heatwaves, and hailstorms.
Open Mic Opportunities
On the last Monday of each month, Red Wheelbarrow Writer Sean Dwyer emcees an Open Mic for writers at the Fairhaven Village Books. Published and unpublished writers are encouraged to attend and enjoy a welcoming audience. August 31 and September 28 at 6 pm.
